Project LEA: Leading Educators in Advancing Inclusive Early Education

 

Project LEA: Leading Educators in Advancing Inclusive Early Education is a 5 year project (2013-2018) funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). During this 5-year period, Project LEA will prepare 34 early childhood special education administrators and supervisors to serve as educational leaders in their districts. These “front line” educators play an important role in providing high-quality services to young children who have IEPs and their families. The staff of Project LEA are excited to be working with these professionals.

Project LEA uses distance learning technology to offer a part-time program of study that will allow four groups of students to earn an Education Specialist degree in 2 years. The Project LEA Program of Study does not lead to any Ohio Department of Education certification or license, such as the Teacher Leader Endorsement or an Administrative license.

Project LEA will pay all in-state graduate tuition costs for scholars enrolled in the project. Students will complete a 32-semester hour graduate program of study leading to an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree.

Highly-qualified teacher educators, Drs. Ed Cancio, Laurie Dinnebeil and Bill McInerney lead Project LEA, and Shana Pyle manages the program.
