Take a few days out of this summer to take part in the 2018 Project-Based Learning Ohio Institute, July 24-27, on the New Albany-Plain Local Schools campus near Columbus. The institute is an internationally attended academy that gives educators a chance to learn and create new ways of educating and engaging students to get them ready for college and careers. Among other things, participants will learn the basics of project-based learning, fine-tune their project-based learning practices, acquire skills to support teachers in implementing processes and design strategies to implement project-based learning in their districts and schools.
The institute is hosted by the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio and Buckeye Institute for Education.
The Ohio School Report Cards will include new calculations this year, and some existing calculations are changing from prior years. The Department will discuss updates and changes to the 2018 Ohio School Report Cards in a webinar scheduled for Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. Instructions for attending the webinar will be included in a future message and will be available here on the date of the webinar.
Presented by Cathy Lassiter, Ed.D., this training is designed to develop the capacity of CTE teachers as they plan instructional strategies to help students meet learning targets and master content for industry-standard assessments. The training will focus on teaching strategies that work best in the classroom, factors influencing effective teaching practices, developing assessment-capable learners, and purposeful collaboration in Teacher-Based Teams (TBT).
