COVID-19 & Inclement Weather Policies Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most State Support Team 1 professional learning opportunities are offered online. When in-person training is necessary, proper sanitation, social distancing, and face covering protocols are utilized. We are carefully monitoring State Support Team health and will notify registrants of any event cancellations or location changes.   When we return to in-person training opportunities, please be mindful of weather conditions. If we you are experiencing hazardous driving conditions, call 800-346-8495 after 6:30 a.m. to learn if your workshop is delayed or cancelled. Should you feel conditions are too unsafe to travel, please leave a message to let us know you won’t be attending.

Child Outcomes Summary Training – Part 1 @ Virtual Zoom Session

This virtual training provides an introduction to the COS process, how to describe children’s functioning in the three outcome areas, and explore the five areas of essential knowledge that teams need to have for completing the COS process. Part one will be completed at each participants own pace within a two week window of time, to be completed by 8-27-20. Please register by e-mailing Lisa Jenkins at esclew_lj@sstr1.org. You will need to include your OCCRRA OPIN# in the e-mail. This training is for NEW, never before trained staff who will be completing the COS form.

Child Outcomes Summary Training – Part 2 @ Virtual Zoom Session

Virtual participation is required for Child Outcomes Summary (COS) training – Part 2 and will involve key features of the Child Outcomes Summary (COS) process and required information to successfully complete the process. Part two will be facilitated through zoom by SST1 and SST6 staff. Participants will complete application activities and explore the requirements and resources specific to state policies about collecting child outcomes data.  Sign in and technical support begins at 8:30 a.m. To register for both Part 1 and 2, e-mail Lisa Jenkins at esclew_lj@sstr1.org. CTE: Career Technical Education Special Education Leaders Meeting – Virtual @ Virtual

The Career Technical Education Special Education Leaders meeting is an opportunity for members to receive updates regarding special education as it relates to Career Tech Education. Members will have the opportunity to network with other professionals working with students with special needs in career tech.

Registration for these meetings is through the Share Site. The Share Site is for career technical education special education leaders who are responsible tor implementing services in their buildings.  The Share Site requires a login and password.

Regional Transition Network Fall Meeting @ On-Line/Virtual

The goals of the Regional Transition Network (formerly known as Regional Transition Council) is to act in a networking and advisory capacity in order to support schools and cooperating agencies in developing effective transition planning strategies with the support of the State Support Team personnel, guest speakers, and other partners and peers in order to strengthen district knowledge and capacity in regards to helping each student prepare for and achieve successful post-school outcomes in the areas of competitive integrated employment, education/training, and independent living.  Meetings include dissemination of news and updates about transition practices and procedures as well as share-outs and networking with local, regional, and/or state agencies in order to facilitate transition-related agency linkages in order to support transition implementation.

Special Education Administrators Virtual Office Hours @ Online via Zoom

State Support Team 1 Special Education Administrators Virtual Office Hours will take place on Thursdays, September 10 and 24, 2020, from 9:00-10:30 AM. These virtual meetings are designed specifically for special education administrators and are facilitated by SST 1 director Lynn McKahan, M.S.

The purpose of these two sessions is to address critical issues regarding instruction for students with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as provide a venue to problem solve, share resources and ideas, and ask questions that address the needs of educators and their students in community schools, traditional schools, and other education agencies throughout Region 1.

Updates from the Ohio Department of Education (Office of Exceptional Children) are also provided.
