The Ohio Department of Education is excited to host its first Trauma-Informed Schools Conference for Ohio’s educators and community partners so that, together, we can reach each child and help all students reach their fullest potential. This free event will be held virtually on Saturday, November 7.
The conference will:
- Provide information and tools that help educators and community partners better understand the impact of trauma on child development and learning
- Help educators apply trauma-informed practices at the district, building and classroom levels to best support the whole child
- Provide information and knowledge that supports educator self-care and whole child student well-being
Keynotes and presenters include nationally known individuals and Ohio’s educators and community partners who are engaged in these important practices. Presenters will share their knowledge and experience, while participants will have an opportunity to create networks, connections and engage in professional learning. The event offers an opportunity to become engaged in a statewide network of educators and community partners that promote and strengthen the understanding of the impact of trauma on students and educators alike in Ohio’s schools.
Throughout the day, participants will hear opening remarks from Ohio’s education leaders, participate in two keynote presentations and engage in three additional sessions where participants have opportunities to select from 15 presentations, including time to interact during speaker chats and community chats. Continuing education credits are provided for each session attended (if minimum participation is completed).
