COVID-19 & Inclement Weather Policies Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most State Support Team 1 professional learning opportunities are offered online. When in-person training is necessary, proper sanitation, social distancing, and face covering protocols are utilized. We are carefully monitoring State Support Team health and will notify registrants of any event cancellations or location changes.   When we return to in-person training opportunities, please be mindful of weather conditions. If  hazardous driving conditions exist, call 800-346-8495 after 6:30 a.m. to learn if your workshop is delayed or cancelled. Should you feel conditions are too unsafe to travel, please leave a message to let us know you won’t be attending.

ADOS-2 Toddler Module Training

The Introductory Clinical ADOS-2 Workshops at the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center are designed for clinicians with prior background in autism and formal testing, including psychologists, physicians, speech-language pathologists, social workers as well as professionals and graduate students in related fields.

Independent trainers, from Sunfield Center for Autism, ADHD and Behavioral Health, will be presenting these workshops through a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, videos, scoring discussions and live administration of the instrument.Sunfield Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Sunfield Center maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Sunfield Center designates the followings CEs for ADOS2 trainings: 14 CE credits for the ADOS-2 (Modules 1-4) 2-day training, and 7 CE credits for the ADOS-2(Toddler Module)1 day training. The application for Ohio CEUs is in process and will be provided by the North Central Ohio ESC.

Registration is limited for this training with early bird registration through May 20 at a reduced cost.  See the attached flyer and application for more information and to register.  Please feel free to share this information with professionals in your community.

Ohio Promoting Wellness & Recovery Conference

4-Day Summer Basic Nemeth Course @ Embassy Suites

The Basic Nemeth Course will review the basic Nemeth code for math and science notation. This course will cover the Nemeth code notation appropriate for kindergarten to middle school curricula. Proficiency in the material covered in the Basic Braille course is highly recommended due to the pace and content of this course.Students will participate in independent and group work and will apply their knowledge as they read, write, and proofread braille math and science materials. Students will use the Perkins Brailler to produce braille materials. The course will be appropriate for students with little or no Nemeth experience. The course will also include examples following current recommendations for the use of UEB in Nemeth materials.

The trainer is Shelley Mack, a Certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (CTVI) and Certified Braille Transcriber.

Lodging at the Embassy Suites is offered to course participants Monday through Wednesday nights and paid for by the BEST grant.

Twenty-nine (29) contact hours will be offered for this 4-day course. Two (2) semester hours of graduate credit through the University of Dayton credit will be offered; the BEST Grant will pay for the college credit tuition for the first twenty (20) Ohio teachers to register.

OACB’s June 2018 SSA Forum will take place on Wednesday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Topics will include current state initiatives and a detailed review of new requirements following the clearance of the updated DD waiting list rule.
