Participants will be able to identify how Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) complement one another and provide a systematic framework that supports the whole child. Participants will be able to identify how the UDL guidelines and the components of PBIS are more similar than different and support educators in their efforts to be intentional when striving to meet the needs of each and every learner.
This webinar will take place on May 8, 2018, and is presented by Greg Boerio and Denise Malkovits from State Support Team Region 5, and Ron Rogers from the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI). The webinar is hosted by OCALI.

Fifth Annual Trauma Informed Care Summit- May 22-23, 2018, Columbus, OH. The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services will host their annual summit on Trauma Informed Care. Day One will feature best or promising practices in assessment, treatment, support and collaboration to respond to trauma across systems and in particular, programs and projects that demonstrate collaboration across systems and that can be replicated in any area of the state. Day Two will feature best or promising practices in responding to secondary and vicarious trauma in First Responders, child protective workers, foster parents and peer supports who are routinely exposed to traumatic events int he course of their duties. The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Ohio Department of Education and PreventionFIRST! are hosting a two-day, June conference, Leveraging State and Local Resources for School Improvement, Student Safety and Effective Behavioral Health Services. The event takes place on Monday, June 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., and Tuesday, June 5, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel in Columbus.

From tablet and phone apps to in-home remote support systems, this one-day event offers attendees a chance to learn about different kinds of technology available to support people with developmental disabilities who want more independence in their lives.
People with disabilities, their families, advocates, and professionals will hear from experts in the disability field from across the country. Advocates and family members will talk about the technology that has influenced their lives.
This event is $50 for professionals and free for adults with DD and family members.
