Calendar of Events

COVID-19 & Inclement Weather Policies Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most State Support Team 1 professional learning opportunities are offered online. When in-person training is necessary, proper sanitation, social distancing, and face covering protocols are utilized. We are carefully monitoring State Support Team health and will notify registrants of any event cancellations or location changes.   When we return to in-person training opportunities, please be mindful of weather conditions. If  hazardous driving conditions exist, call 800-346-8495 after 6:30 a.m. to learn if your workshop is delayed or cancelled. Should you feel conditions are too unsafe to travel, please leave a message to let us know you won’t be attending.

Training Summary: Disciplinary Literacy for Adolescents is an interactive workshop that will explore how content specializations can be used to do the authentic work found within each discipline. From insightful research to literacy practices, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of disciplinary literacy and the role it plays in building content knowledge.

Target Audience: Teachers, building coaches, teacher leaders, building and district administration, educational service center/state support team consultants

Advance CTE will also delve into our new Vision, which will be released in March 2021, that aims to be the standard bearer for the key priorities and direction of CTE for the next decade.
The Spring Meeting provide many opportunities for members to interact, receive support, and gain valuable knowledge to reset and look to the future:
Reconnect: Interactive problem-solving sessions for states on hot button CTE topics and networking event with state and industry counterparts
Reset: Dynamic speakers and sessions on equity and CTE, the future of work, CTE data, communicating CTE, and more!
Reimagine: Vision deep dive and implementation sessions

Literacy Leaders Network @ Virtual

The Literacy Leaders Network will take a deep dive into all components of the Literacy Improvement Pathway.

Designed for district leaders, superintendents, curriculum directors, special education directors, principals, and literacy coaches, participants will learn the processes needed to create, update, or improve their district’s literacy plan based solidly in the Science of Reading. Vital tools such as the R-TFI, District Implementation Team/District Leadership Team guidance, decision rules, MTSS, curriculum review and adoption, assessment, and more will be covered.

Training Summary: Building from Disciplinary Literacy for Adolescents,
this session intends to create a space to consider and plan for implementation of disciplinary literacy practices
across a school. Using Collaborative Coaching for DL: Strategies to Support Teachers in Grades 6-12, participants will explore how to create disciplinary literacy outcomes and create an implementation plan. Attention will be paid to ways in which pedogeological content knowledge (PCK) can be built.

Target Audience: Teachers, building coaches, teacher leaders, building and district administration, educational service center/state support team consultants.

This two-hour workshop will explore the use of common instructional frameworks and routines as a means of advancing the evidence-based practices of adolescent literacy.

Target Audience: Building and district administrators, instructional coaches, teacher leaders, educational service center/state support team consultants.
