Expanding Expression: A Multi-Sensory Tool for Improved Oral Expression & Writing, is the third session in the 2019 Literacy Institute sponsored by Support Team 1.

In this session, Sara L. Smith will show participants a multi-sensory, multi-tiered approach to help students provide more detailed descriptions and definitions in their written and oral expression. These strategies are designed to help improve literacy outcomes for students at all grade levels. Sara is the creator of the Expanding Expression Tool (EET).

This session will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West, located in Toledo, Ohio. This session is designed specifically for teachers, administrators, literacy coaches, curriculum directors, and special education directors of preschool through grade 12 students (Pre-K-12).

About Sara L. Smith, M.S., CCC-SLP

 

As a national speaker, Sara provides insight into learning and demonstrates strategies to use with all children. Her interest and continued study of language processing and multi-sensory approaches has led to her development of the Expanding Expression Tool (EET) for improved oral and written expression. She received her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and her master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. Registration Information & Credit Options

 

This is the third and final session of the 2019 Literacy Institute:

  1. Effective Literacy Practices for Early Reading (June 11);
  2. Explicit Instruction in Literacy for All Learners (June 13); and
  3. Expanding Expression: A Multi-Sensory Tool for Improved Oral Expression & Writing (June 14).

Each session in this series offer five and one-half [5.5] contact hours. Participants may register for sessions independently or combine all three sessions for graduate credit through Ashland University.
