PBIS 2-Day Training | Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (September 10 & 24)

September 10, 2019 @ 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

The State Support Team 1 is pleased to sponsor a two-day training presented by Tamie Cruz, M.A. This training is designed to provide building and district teams with the essential elements for implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

During the training, a variety of topics will be covered including exploring school-wide attitudes toward behavior, determining what is already in place regarding behavior intervention, and planning the next steps. Team members will begin to develop a district-wide common office discipline referral form, three to five expectations, and a behavior matrix.

PBIS creates a framework to help all school staff determine behavior expectations, teach those expectations directly and develop both positive and negative consequences for behavior. The consistency that results helps to meet all learners’ needs, including those who have disabilities.

Team Composition & Information

To be effective, teams should be comprised of a broad representation of at least five and up to 10 staff members. Teams must be composed of at least one administrator and special education intervention specialist along with a variety of teachers and related service providers. Additional team members, such as paraprofessionals are welcome.

The training is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on September 10 and 24, 2019, at Willow Bend Country Club in Van Wert, Ohio. Lunch is not provided. Contact hours [11] are available for the two-day training.
