SIOP & Other Effective Strategies for Content Teachers of English Learners


This two-day professional development series by Heidi Messbarger, will focus on effective practices for instructing English Learners in content-area classes. Strategies will be framed within the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) model and supplemented with additional research-based strategies and activities. This session is "Youngdesigned specifically for teachers working with students for whom English is a second language.

This session will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 17 and 18, 2019, at the Wood County Educational Service Center, located in Bowling Green, Ohio. Twelve [12] contact hours are available. Lunch will not be provided.
